You’ve heard that webinars are the #1 marketing tactic for moving leads through the funnel and that 62% of marketers are already using webinars for content marketing. But what does it really take to be a success at webcasting?
Here are three things that will help take your webcasts to a whole new level of awesome…
1) Get out of the box.
Question: How do you overcome a bad webcasting platform?
Answer: You don’t!
If it feels like your current webcasting platform is holding you back, don’t write off webcasts all together! It’s important not to mistake technological limitations for industry standards.
It’s also important to remember that webcasting is different from other presentation and collaboration mediums. If you’re not ready to fully embrace webinar technologies, perhaps a conference call is all you need. But why not take advantage of this amazing tool that according to ON24’s 2014 Benchmark Report is keeping viewers attention for longer and longer amounts of time!?
Yes, it takes more work and forethought to put on a program that fully utilizes all the capabilities of your platform, but the potential for reaching your multi-tasking audience is also much more significant.
If you’re not happy with the platform that you’re using, shop around!
2) Jump off the box.
What box? The one you’ve been standing on to give your speech.
It’s 2014! It’s time to “conversate”!
If your user is joining via the computer, multitasking will become the ultimate temptation. And as we’re learning, multitasking isn’t the goldmine of productivity we once thought. As this Forbes article points out, multitasking actually works against us. So when we want our audience to retain what we’re telling them, we’ve got to find a way to hold their undivided attention.
Peak engagement by telling stories and having conversations, not baton passing, with your co-presenters. People enjoy being a fly on the wall during an interesting conversation. Interesting, personal, and relevant will trump giving a polished speech.
3) Hand over the box.
What if you’ve never hosted a webcast before? You know you’ve got the content and the thought leadership. You’re ready to reach a larger audience and get those leads flowing through your funnel. But all of the details of hosting a LIVE virtual event are kinda freaking you out.
You know it and I know it… there’s nothing worse than a technical snafu to undercut your credibility, irritate your guests or (in the worst case) cause participants to tune out or log out of your event altogether.
Recognize your capacity and your areas of expertise and don’t be afraid to hand off the technical side of hosting your webinar to a professional online events management group. This allows you to focus on what you do best – connecting with your audience and sharing your knowledge.
